Breathe is a body of work that explores and documents my life leading up to, and the fallout from, the loss of my Dad when I was 10 years old. The work was made as a response to the 10 year anniversary of his passing, and showcases my own personal journey in healing from childhood trauma. The work, which was created over the course of 3 months, uses archival imagery paired with scanned in artefacts and handwritten letters. I also created new portraiture, including the portrait of my sister, Mia, which was featured in the Birmingham Open 2025 Exhibition, and new still-life photography of some of my Dads possessions. Finally, I used handwritten letters to visually narrate my own story. The work was made into a book, which was featured in ‘The Book As’ photobook event at Coventry University. A big thank you to my family, for their help and support with this project.

The full book from this project is not something I want to share.

I have, however, featured a selection of portraits made during this body of work below.
