“The Sorry State Of British Parks is a project showcasing the poor conditions that can often be found in British parks. Using a documentary style approach, the project is designed to visually explore a collection of green spaces within a close radius to my house, and show, through carefully considered photographs, the signs of mistreatment, disuse, and abandonment visible within these spaces. With the creation of a coherent new series, the work aims to act as a starting point of a project that sparks a change in public perception of parks and green spaces, aiming to expose the harsh realities that they face, and begin to build them back up. The project overall focuses on encouraging viewers to question why it is that parks around Britain are consistently treated with such a neglect.
This work is something that I plan to expand slowly, with no set end date in sight at this point.
