I’ve been making work at RSPB Sandwell Valley since early 2025, and I don’t intend to stop any time soon. This project was originally started in my second year of studies, and at that time was called ‘giving nature a home’, and was chosen for the GRAIN X BCU Alumni Exhibition. I still have many avenues and ideas I want to explore in this space, so the work is very much ongoing into my third year. The work aims to promote RSPB Sandwell Valley, a nature reserve in West Bromwich targeted primarily at Birdwatchers, and aims to open up the hobby to a new audience. Drawing on my own experiences as a birdwatcher and frequent visitor, the photographs aim to showcase the natural beauty found within the space, and to emphasise the need for an outdoors hobby for the benefit of our mental and physical health.
