‘You Are Here’ is a social documentary photographic project that explores how long-distance walking can help one be present in one’s life and subsequently how that process helps in managing anxiety and mental health. Created in response to a period of overwhelming anxiety and significant mental struggles, the work aims to strip away the hectic nature of everyday life and reveal the deeper beauty there to be found in the world. Through a series of four separate 10-mile walks between my house and RSPB Sandwell Valley, a nature reserve in West Bromwich, I spent time connecting to and photographing scenes that caught my eye. Switching between digital and analogue, I devoted time to each subject I encountered. The images in this project depict everyday things one would otherwise walk past, but when connected to emotionally they become symbols of healing, and they act as a unique form of photographic based therapy. The outcome is an intimate, calm narration of this process via a self-published photo book.

The work was featured in Amateur Photographer Magazine - I did a digital interview where I spoke about many things but mainly the project.
